I'm so pleased to have stumbled across this. This has deep joy running through it, and I am fascinated to see where it takes us all. Thanks.

Thank you for taking a moment to watch and learn about Unfixed. And I'm extra delighted that you felt "the deep joy running through it." What a keen observation that not everyone shares. Over the last 4 years doing this work, I actually have had many people turn away saying "Oh no, this content makes me too sad. I can't watch it." But I've observed that when someone is brave enough to lean in and get past their own fears of frailty and mortality, they too, feel that deep joy. And it's unconditional.

You're so welcome - and THANK YOU for sharing with your children! You must be an incredible mom who understands the importance of opening her children's minds to the possibilities that live within adversity. Our knee jerk reaction is to run away and your kids will be all the more prepared for life by recognizing and embracing the challenges.

I love this, you're very talented and omg such amazing people you filmed, sorry with my MdDS the last 4 yrs being consistent my brain can't remember did you finish the documentary Kimberly?

No apologies necessary! The pandemic came along 4 months into filming so I transformed the original doc into a docu-series that followed the subjects for 2 years as they filmed themselves every month in response to specific prompts. You’ve probably seen some of those. I may resurrect the original doc someday but things snowballed thereafter into so many different Unfixed projects that I’ll need a team of helpers now if I go back to the documentary.

Wow. Just wow. Having been diagnosed with cancer this year, I am proud to join you all. On a bad day, I am resisting. On a good day, I am saying yes to all of it. Acceptance cannot be learned unless the 'unacceptable' happens.

You had me at "ha ha's and ah ha's" in your substack description. Welcome to the land of the unfixed, where resistance and "yes" live alongside each other. I look forward to reading your essays and hearing how your previous comic career integrates into your newest chapter. Big love and appreciation to you.

What a powerful and beautifully filmed short about the Unfixed community. This is such a rare but necessary perspective about suffering and chronic illness. I'm so grateful to have met you (podcast buddies!) and seen your work. IT IS SO NEEDED! You make me feel seen and hopeful at the same time. This community is so special and combats the isolation and shame of living with chronic illness. THANK U!

Your words are music to my heart Stephanie! I'm warmed to hear that this work is extending wide and welcoming arms to you. You're so right - living with chronic illness can feel so very isolating.. We need each other—even if it's through podcasts, books and zoom support groups—so we can feel less alone, less crazy, less helpless... and more beautifully human. xo

I’m happy to see that on Thursdays you’re welcoming ALL forms of adversity: physical, mental, emotional and even spiritual. Perhaps in essence they’re all an effort to escape surrendering to what is present now and the freedom, peace and transcendence that lives in that vastness beyond yet including the separate me. xo
