I’ve never been a Valentine’s Day fan—nothing like a chocolate bomb of expectation to kill the mood. But dedicating a day to explore love, both personal and transcendent, how it hurts and how it heals, and with whom we choose to share the messy ride? Now that I can celebrate.
“If intimacy is our loving embrace with the heart of the “other” can I not always be in an intimate state with the divine? I’m not talking about some man in the clouds, but to hold the whole world with love, all of existence, all of creation, all of life, and especially all our brothers and sisters of humanity. That for me, is the highest form of intimacy.”
You express yourself so incredibly Toni. I always find myself wanting to memorize your phrases. I do hope I get to read some of your essays someday soon, your comments alone are like mini-sonnets.
Wow. I needed this. I am blown away by all these people. I aspire to the way they open to new depths and new truths. And damn, Kimberly, you’ve put this piece together brilliantly. Thank you.
Thank you Holly, I'm blown away by them too. One might think after so many months of recording and edits that they'd feel commonplace now, but every.single.time I pause to listen, again, my faith in humanity is restored.
Oh my heart... so beautiful and brave... all of them. Dylan's wisdom, perspective, and patience is so other worldly... just his release of ego. I'm in awe.
I'm right there with you Alisa. I watched this episode again yesterday (often I don't since I've already seen them a gazillion times) and it rended me into a pile of tears. How's the read coming along with his MS? Any thoughts that it might be a good fit with your agent?
Pardon the delay... today was a doctor day... I finished it and it's super interesting because of the length and because of the spiritual dimension, but let me follow up with you on email. xo
No apologies necessary! And I had the funniest dream last night with you so I feel like we had a good hang anyway. In the dream you rewrote Dylan’s book into a Marvel superhero flick. 😂 (And the more I think about it, not a bad idea….)
That's so funny! Ah, he deserves far more than Marvel, he deserves George Lucas at his finest and greatest, with all the zen master philosophy thrown up against our greatest problem, which is that we perceive the climate, the planet, the divine, and each other--as "other". So not a bad idea at all! ... It would also make an incredible rock opera.😂
Does it only take one man’s ability to hold all that is dear to him , bound together by his unwavering love, to tell us all, the proper definition of being human ?
Isn't wild that so much depth can be felt through a computerized voice? I suppose it's not that surprising, but at first, I worried that the flat diction might take away from his presence. But D's sunshine blasts through it all.
Wow. I missed this video last month, and I'm so glad I went back and found it, Kim, I think it's one of the best of them I've seen. So much love and bravery around the most personal subject. 🥲
Such a wonderful episode- filled with raw, authentic emotion that reminds us what’s truly important in this life. Thank you for shedding light on this important topic.
Incredibly powerful and moving; the serenity and wisdom Dylan manages to access and share with us is simply breath-taking. Thank you for making space for a nuanced version of intimacy, and a much needed reminder of the best of our humanity.💜
Yet again you reduce me to puddles of tears. In a good way. Dylan always leaves an imprint on my heart. His words always powerful. And of course his beautiful eyes—looking straight into our soul. So well put together and an important topic for those living with chronic illness. ❤️
He has a way with our hearts. ;) I just got a text from his mom this morning that he is waiting to "exit" until the second Dune is released. It's out March 1 in theaters, so he's gathering all his people to a local theater for March 2nd screening. It will be a joyous and bitter-sweet event. I never thought I'd need to bring Kleenex to Dune. xo

Stunningly beautiful
I can't say this is beautiful in the usual way I feel beauty---this is heart-rending beautiful, brave beautiful, upwelling tears beautiful...
I love these faces, each one's story, each voice. For Dylan's eyes in clearest gaze, thank you. I'm changed.

Oh thank you, Kimberly---I'm deep in the midst of prepping for an upcoming art show---and it's like my writing brain just won't make room quite yet...
But yeah, sometimes I feel a huge longing to jump in and join this amazing, stimulating community in more ways than commenting---
Thanks for the uplift!

That's when you know you're doing the right work!

I'm going to copy and paste this in a text to D, he'll love it. ;)
For Dylan,
Does it only take one man’s ability to hold all that is dear to him , bound together by his unwavering love, to tell us all, the proper definition of being human ?
Yes. And his name is Vitamin D. ;)
A touching episode, Kimberly (pardon the pun).
And such a beautiful quote by Dylan!
I'm a glutton for good puns. ;)
Dylan is truly the most profound teacher, his wisdom and how clearly it's communicated is otherworldly. Thank you so much for sharing his light.

Yeah, I think wisdom that deep could survive any delivery 🙏

Thank you for checking it out Tracy. I'm so glad you took a moment to listen and found truth in their voices. ;)

You're so welcome Mya. The version of intimacy our media spins is quite clobbering and uni-dimensional... and doing us no favors!

Aw man. Thanks for the update. I’ve been thinking about him (and you) so much knowing it was coming near. Xoxo
Very moving.
