Thank you for this beautiful interview. We are dealing with my husband’s diagnosis of a chronic illness that has changed our lives and relationship and it has been difficult.

My heart goes out to you. A new diagnosis isn’t treated like something to grieve, but it is a death of sorts, and I think it would help us breathe more easily and with perspective and understanding if we allowed ourselves to feel that loss fully. Wishing you and your family much peace in the days ahead.

This is so remarkable. I think one of the things I worry about most in our current US healthcare climate (or lack thereof) is all the people with chronic conditions who don't have a partner or families to be there. I think it's so important that we show that kind of familial caring and empathy... so that even as we build chosen families, we have these wonderful models to look to for ways to live.

God you’re so right. I can’t fathom navigating these illnesses alone, though many do. The medical system is so fragmented, over-taxed and impersonal that it feels like we’re failing our patients in so many ways, especially when it comes to integrating the impacts of illness on the multi-faceted aspects of our lives outside the clinic.

Thank you for sharing this interview. It's amazing how chronic pain can bring a family closer. I had a friend who had this disease. You would never know of her debilitating pain. Sending prayers to the Morales family.

Well it’s certainly a testament to the family, as pain can also tear families apart. I know the Morales family wouldn’t call it a walk in the park, and there were months and years where it nearly broke them, but it was a privilege to hear how they survived and I hope their story will offer a glimpse of what is possible. Thank you for watching.🙏

Always both, isn’t it. Movement and surrender. Expansion and contraction. Thanks for watching Michael, I’m sure you and your family have your own version of this story.
