Sweet heavens above us and below... did you take that breathtaking photo Kimberly? The light is extraordinary! I doubt a better image exists to illustrate the words of RM Rilke either...

I feel those words deep in my skin, with the changing of the clock and stars still prickling, I wonder will stone be next?

Thank you lovely one - may your week be blessed 💛xx

I did. 😉 Like you, I only share my own photos over here. It offers me an opportunity to dig through archives of work or go out into the field to create a new one. This one in particular came from winter 2022. (And shhhh, it was actually sunrise.:)

A perfect marriage of image and poem where stone meets star.

Thank you, Kimberly, for sharing this passage from Rilke’s works. My wife first introduced me to his works. Then, as now, my reading - I realize they are translations - leaves me feeling teleported to another place, another time. Thanks for this journey.

Isn't it wonderful that from the comfort of a bed or sofa or blanket or under a tree, words can take us into the vastness of the universe?

Such an extraordinary poem and image. Rilke reminds me of this incredible class taught during the pandemic: https://www.markwunderlich.com/letters-to-a-young-poet-a-correspondence-course/ Just the idea that it involved real letters to young poets. :)

Breath-taking poem, thank you for sharing this. I'd pick a favourite line, but they are all equal in their power.

Perfect picture to go with it, too.

Haha, if you only knew how many time I deleted the subtitle, unable to decide which stanza would pull readers in the most. ;)

Haha, understandable. You picked a winner, but each one is a winner.

Between stone and star we stand. The choice may or may not be ours, but when the choice is ours, be best be brave and choose.
