"We shape our narratives from the known details of our lives. But hidden truths and the ones we bury also shape us, sometimes more powerfully than our conscious selves would care to admit. Truth is a persistent, nocturnal companion who eventually needs daylight to survive." - If that's not the truth!

It’s so sweet to feel you going back to the beginning of my memoir! I’m on vacation this week, so sorry about my belated replies. But know that your wise presence here means so much.❤️

I hope you’re enjoying your vacay, lovely! I am a weirdo who starts reading from the middle or end and then moves to the beginning. But it’s all well connected for me. I have quite a bit of catching up to do. You’re such a phenomenal writer and muser. <3

Haha, it felt a bit like a movie as I was living it. I frequently told my husband... I can't wait to be bored by life!

Goodness! right? can't be bored! 😅 I wrote a 20 min story (longest on my Substack) about my mom's life, beginning with her mom, through both world wars. My beautiful mom/mum is almost 88 and going blind. Suddenly she talks about her story every time we talk (I call her every day) almost like she is trying to believe she lived through it all, grappling as she ages. Our stories are so important to write. They live with us to the end and they should be handed down when we're gone. Not left buried. There are lessons and purpose in them. ox

What a profound experience as a daughter to bear witness to your mom's grappling! Can you link that story here? I'd love to read. xo

Oh what an honor it would be for you to read it. It's long. I swore 8 min and under stories when I began, but this one had to be told, and 20 min. for a lifetime, right? is nothing. I'm looking forward to carving out more time to read your stories as well. Happy Easter to you Kimberly. ox

“Mom walks in the room and sees Charlie and me staring at each other through a phosphorescent screen and stops in her tracks.”

The portal in time here suddenly connecting family threads is riveting. Real life is so incredible.

And a great way to end a chapter! I want more!
