The year is coming to a close. In the silence, perhaps we can hear a collective sigh. Not so much a sigh of relief as a unified exhale, a laying down of arms, disappointments and heaviness. Just as trees cyclically lay down their verdant promise, eventually to be buried under snow and winter rain, in this season we, too, are asked to let go. Pause. Allow the darkness to be a welcome and necessary friend. Hope will arrive, but it's not time. The natural retreat of this season mirrors so much of the Unfixed life and the many ways chronic illness has pulled us into a solitude and reflection that is often saved for the "later years of life." We're learning to embrace our own rhythms, question our conditioning, tend to our deepest longings. And often that means our lives look very different than what society expects from us. Our pace is slower. Our tables may be more empty and our calendars uncluttered with holiday obligations, but what arises from the silence is the clarity of our own unique voice.
I love the perspective that everyone brings to the holiday season. What a blessing. I am really enjoying getting to know these people over the course of your videos. All the best to you and your family Kimberly. xo
Happy H to you Mr. Troy! Wishing whatever your body and soul are most needing this season, with a sprinkle of good cheer thrown in because who doesn't want some of that? xo
Oh my. The sentiments and experiences shared on the video somehow made *me* feel unfixed, compared to the quiet deliberateness and self-awareness with which they must navigate this season. Blessings and gratitude on them. On all of us.
What a dear and unique reflection Tim. There certainly are gifts in the unfixed life that I can’t help but think all might welcome, especially during the unnecessary frenzy of this season. ❤️
You're so welcome Nathan. Nice to all pause together over here. Happy holidays to you and looking forward to engaging with your offerings in the new year. ;)
....loved your words about tending to our "deepest longings"...it's sometimes in the quietness, or bareness of winter, that we can finally do this. grateful for what the seasons and nature can teach us about our soul.

Beautiful Kay. Leaning into the bareness, and away from all the noisy distractions of this world, truly can be one of our greatest teachers.
Yes indeed. Thank you for that reminder in your article.
Gonna sit with this... maybe take it with me on my morning walk.
Thank you for lighting a candle...
